DNAFoil, a novel technology for the rapid detection of food pathogens: Preliminary validation on Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes

چکیده
Over the past decades, several tools have been developed for food pathogen detection, including proteomics, metabolomics, immunological, biosensor, and nucleic acid-based approaches. Although these techniques are reliable precise, they time-consuming, technically challenging, costly. Hence, it is necessary to develop rapid which can be performed at household level. DNAFoil mechanism a portable, completely self-administered, on-site DNA test that does not need expensive instru-ments or settings confirm detection in as little 30 min. was used successfully detecting contamination adulteration with pork derivatives (down 0.1%) vegetal components 0.01%), respectively. In this study, initial validation experiments of were investigated detect Listeria monocytogenes Salmonella contamination. To specificity proposed method toward Salmonella, 18 different strains, 6 non-Salmonella bacteria, 2 fungi investigated; also, case monocytogenes, five bacterial two fungi, investigated. The results stated Swiss Decode L. solutions few 1 10 copies per microliter, also showed accuracy our ranges between 92 100%, while precision value ranged 88 100%. terms quality control applicability, reactions could visually detected naked eye using lateral flow strip, in-place during manufacturing more lab tests. cost, usually much cheaper than traditional methods. Therefore, promising universal technology pathogens.

Presenting a rapid method for detection of Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes and Campylobacter jejuni in food samples
Objective(s): Listeria monocytogens, Bacillus cereus and Campylobacter jejuni are three toxin producing bacteria over the world, especially in Iran, and it is essential to find a certain, rapid procedure to identify these microorganisms. In this research, these bacteria were simultaneously detected by multiplex PCR technique in foods. Materials and Methods: The primary approval of bacterial str...

The objective of this study was to streamline the detection and identification of Listeria monocytogenes (LM) in livestock and foods. Hog tonsil scrapings, hog tissues collected at necropsy, ground pork, and turkey washes were inoculated into UVM-1 (10% w/v) and after incubation (3 days) transferred to UVM-2. After 2 days, samples were plated to Palcam agar and incubated (48 h, 37 o C). Charact...
متن کاملImportance of Listeria monocytogenes in food safety: a review of its prevalence, detection, and antibiotic resistance
Listeria monocytogenes, as a foodborne pathogenic bacterium, is considered as major causative agent responsible for serious diseases in both humans and animals. Milk and dairy products are among the main sources of energy supply in the human, therefore contamination of these products with Listeria spp., especially L. monocytogenes, could lead to life threatening infec...
متن کاملFluorescence-Free Biosensor Methods in Detection of Food Pathogens with a Special Focus on Listeria monocytogenes
Food pathogens contaminate food products that allow their growth on the shelf and also under refrigerated conditions. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to lower the limit of detection (LOD) of the method used and to obtain the results within hours to few days. Biosensor methods exploit the available technologies to individuate and provide an approximate quantification of the bacteria presen...
